Our Professional Guide will share with you the zeal of these hidden areas, captivating you with legends and secrets of Rome’s most authentic neighborhoods and their cafés, synagogues and churches.

You unique guided tour through Rome’s  Jewish Ghetto starts at Largo Argentina and the Senate House, this is where Julius Caesar was murdered. For centuries, Rome’s Jewish ghetto has been the site of both relentless persecution and the undying pride and solidarity of a tight-knit community. Built in 1555 on the banks of a frequently flooded bend of the Tiber River, the ghetto was the forced home of the Roman Jewish population for more than 300 years, between the Counter-Reformation (16th century) and Italian unification (19th century). Though most of the old ghetto has been torn down, you can still find a few reminders of the Roman Jews’ storied past and lively present. We will take you to see the Ghetto and after our tour you could also visit the Jewish Museum and the magnificent Synagogue.

Note: Synagogue and Jewish Museum: Modest dress is required. The only way to visit the synagogue is with a Jewish museum group guided tour (to be paid on the spot). A guided tour to the Great Synagogue departs every hour in English.
